ICON GENETICS is a provider of new plant engineering technologies which address precision, speed, expression control and safety of transgene management in plants. We develop platforms and product prototypes for pharmaceutical, agricultural, animal health and chemical biotech markets. ICON's Intellectual Property portfolio provides broad freedom-to-operate for all major expression systems, including nuclear transformation, plastid transformation, and transient expression based on pro-viral vectors. ICON's products consist of technology suites and trait prototypes, production organisms and engineered plant varieties.
Our magnICON* system is designed for rapid gene/vector assembly and optimization as well as for high yield/high throughput expression of genes in planta. Our lexICON* system allows DNA 'bar-coding' of genetically modified plants. We propose a version of such a labeling as an universal coding standard for GM organisms to be released into the environment. rubICON* is our hybrid seed production and trait control system. Apart from the herbicide resistance and insect resistance genes currently on the market, an efficient and universal hybridization system is probably the only agriculture product candidate with a 'blockbuster' potential.
