Dr. Detlef Wollweber, Managing Director of Bayer Innovation GmbH, was born on June 26. 1956 in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Ruhr University in Bochum and received his Ph. D. in organic chemistry in 1985. In the same year he commenced work at the Bayer AG and was in charge of a chemical research lab specifically responsible for activities in the field of Fungicides & Herbicides in the business area of Crop Protection. In 1989 Dr. Wollweber has appointed Assistant Manager to the Head of Agriculture comprising the areas Plant Protection, Animal Health and Consumer Products Business Groups. In 1991 he became the Manager of the Herbicide Manufacturing Plant sector. Two years later he changed over to work as the Marketing and Product Manager for Herbicides. Since 1996 Dr. Wollweber had been active in the Research of Crop Protection. He was at first in charge as project and group leader in Insecticides and Herbicides, later responsible for the department of Molecular Target Reseach/Biotechnologie. In the year 2000 he took over the responsibility of Head of Crop Protection Research. In 2005 he was delegated to the International Food Policy Research Institute, for leading the project "Public Private Partnership" under the umbrella of the Worldbank. Since September 2005 Dr. Wollweber is the Managing Director of the Bayer Innovation GmbH in Düsseldorf. Dr. Wollweber is married and has two children. For further contact:
